guillermothegreat*waves* hi, it’s Tracy and I have a new character for this upcoming semester so here's the info post for my newest character :)
. Guillermo de la Cruz, Freshman, 14
. Is a human Mexican male with a very small trace of dutch heritage. Is 5’8, wears glasses and has a heavyset build.
. From What We Do in the Shadows (TV) - a TV show based on the 2014 movie of the same name and follows a group of vampires that live in Staten Island, New York. Guillermo is Nandor’s human familiar but he essentially acts as the familiar for the group - which in addition to Nandor the Relentless includes Laszlo Cravensworth, Nadja of Antipaxtos and Colin Robinson. Colin Robinson is an energy vampire and he can walk around in the daylight unlike the rest of the group who are normal vampires and rely on Guillermo to do the day to day jobs that they’re unable to do in the sunlight.
. Is about 5 years pre canon and is not from the same timeline as Laszlo (fortwortreasons) so has no idea that he will eventually be working/slaving for a group of vampires in the hopes that he will one day be turned into a vampire
. Is obsessed with vampires and has been since he watched Antonio Banderas inmeta for Interview with the Vampire. Wants nothing more than to be turned into a vampire.
. However there is the slight problem where he is very very distantly related to the legendary vampire hunter Van Helsing - it turns out he has 3% Dutch heritage and it is through this that he has impressive vampire hunting skills as a result. This is why he’s being sent to Fandom - he’s received a mysterious scholarship so that he can start working on becoming a vampire hunter, which he doesn’t yet know about these abilities.
. He has really impressive fighting and weapons skills but at the moment they are only activated when his subconscious perceives a threat and once that takes over he can fight his way out of basically any situation.
.He is from the Bronx where he lives with his mother, the show has not said anything about his dad or if he has brothers or sisters so for the time I’m going with that his dad is not around and that his mother was the one who primarily raised him and he’s an only child and hopefully season 4 won’t Joss me on that :)
. He has had a very strict Catholic upbringing and as a result he finds it hard to deal with his sexuality which the show has more or less confirmed that he is LGBTQIA + but so far the show hasn’t indicated where he falls on the spectrum. He will eventually start to figure some things out while he is at Fandom.
. Otherwise Guillermo is very much a geek and loves sci-fi and fantasy and LARPING (he will love the Magpie Emporium). He also loves cooking and baking. Despite his best efforts he’s had trouble making friends and at home he only had one friend Jeremy, where they were routinely bullied because they were considered uncool due to their geeky interests.
. He is absolutely going to love being at Fandom in general!

. Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Sherman (flamesburned), 27, Townie
. From Hellboy (particularly the Guillermo del Toro movie verse)
. Is a former BPRD (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense) Agent and a graduate of Fandom High, class of 2010
. Runs the Photo Hut and I do have plans to have her eventually start working as a photographer as well they just haven’t happened yet - she does have an instagram account and Rain now also has one as well.
.She will generally post Tuesday and Thursdays but the Photo Hut runs Monday - Friday. Prompto Argentum (hashtag_chocobro) works Mondays.
. Is dating Prompto, still can’t believe that he’s willingly stuck by her even after knowing the truth about her and how emotionally unstable she can get
. Recently went through a traumatic BDE, that included accidentally burning down the fire station and killing Travis Montgomery (designateddadfriend) as a result (he got better), subsequently got arrested for it and is having a really bad time right now dealing with things right now.
. Is in regular therapy with Dr. Lecter (sharp_man) - she has a lot of trauma to process
. The main thing to know about Liz is that she’s a pyrokinetic and she doesn’t have a lot of control at this point - the strength of her powers are linked entirely to her emotions and when something unexpected happens that scares her she can have what is known as an episode and trigger an uncontrollable burst that has devastating consequences
. The first of these episodes happened when she was 14 (changed from 11 to fit in with her originally starting at Fandom) - she was walking home from school one day when a group of bullies started throwing rocks at her - the resulting trauma caused an explosion that levelled her city block and killed 32 people including her parents and younger brother. Professor Broom took custody of her and offered her the chance to complete her education and train with her powers.
. She also went through a couple of episodes while at Fandom as a student- including destroying alien ships after she and a group of students had been adducted and experimented on, this happened a couple of months after she first started at Fandom.
. She went through an episode four months prior to her moving back to Fandom. She was on a case involving demonic activity in Pittsburg and she lost control killing six agents - her and Hellboy were the only survivors. She was arrested and charged as an arson and murder suspect and initially pleaded guilty so that she could protect the BPRD because they have to remain secret - the charges were dropped but it was a very public fallout and Liz decided to quit the Bureau as a result.
. In the movies this led to her checking in to a psychiatric hospital but for the purpose of Fandom, she decided to return to the island where she went to school and now lives in the apartment above the Photo Hut with her cat Rain
.Other things to know are that she is a devout Catholic - has a complicated relationship with her powers and her faith since she was told from a young age that they were a result of sin and she needed to pray them away. She still goes to church regularly.
. Her favourite movie is Space Battles, she loves listening to the Beatles and she enjoys a range of simple activities such as stargazing, being on the roof, enjoying a mint chocolate cake and the cold weather (thank you Guillermo del Toro for writing a very specific list on Liz’s likes and dislikes).
. Shane ‘Goose’ Gooseman (notagoose), 19, Teacher
. From Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, an obscure 80s science fiction western tv show that only lasted one season
. Was part of the graduating class of 2014
. Is teaching Intro to Mechanical Engineering this semester
. Is very tall, being 7’ and extremely well built. He has short blond hair and bright green eyes and he basically wears a variation of his black cowboy outfit pictured in his icon. He has since acquired different outfits so sometimes he will change things up but for the most part he wears either his formal Galaxy Rangers uniform or his black outfit.
. Acts and dresses like a cowboy since his character was modelled on a young Clint Eastwood and there is a very strong resemblance in appearance as well.
. Recently got to be in a few shootout and was very much in his element, tends to be very trigger happy and adopts a ‘shoot first, ask questions’ later approach.
. Is also an excellent pilot even though he has a habit of crashing the ships that he pilots. His driving is not much better. Is the very definition of the ‘drives like crazy’ trope.
. Also tends to do an early morning run around the island most mornings
. Is a genetically engineered super solder called a Supertrooper, the result of a program designed to bring about the ultimate super soldier but failed after a civilian injected a gas into the barracks and caused the rest of the Supertroopers to become insane and unstable - Goose is the only sane Supertrooper and is tasked with bringing in the rogue Supertroopers who weren’t put on ice otherwise he could face the same punishment himself. He does not generally share this fact, only Ignis (chef_chocobro) knows the full truth.
. Was conditioned that showing weakness is bad and sometimes has trouble expressing emotions but now that he’s more comfortable in Fandom, he’s a lot more relaxed. He will share tidbits about his home and powers but he generally keeps the fact that he’s a genetically engineered super soldier secret.
. Was assigned to the Series 5 Taskforce after graduation and this upset some very powerful people (the same people who were essentially responsible for the failure of the Supertrooper Program and fearing for his safety, Commander Walsh has sent Goose back to Fandom to teach til things have calmed down. The only problem this caused was that for Goose six months passed since graduation when in reality time moved a lot more quickly and 7 years went by when he returned.
. Commander Walsh is not only Goose’s CO and former guardian, he is also Goose’s primary genetic donor and thus is a living relative. Supertroopers were not supposed to have living relatives and so this revelation will cause massive problems for Goose later on. The show got cancelled before Goose could find out the truth about Walsh but I do have some plans for how he’s going to find this out :) At this point the only people who know about Walsh being Goose’s father are Senator Wheiner (the person who was ultimately responsible for why the Wolf Den project failed) and Dr. Owen Negata. The only reason that there hasn’t already been consequences for this is because Walsh and Wheiner have been keeping each other in check and blackmailing each other for years.
. Goose has natural bio defences that allow him to adapt his body to the environment that he is in (ie if he is underwater he will develop gills). He cannot control this ability and is dependent on his series 5 implant that allows him to activate this straight away - without it, his abilities are unpredictable and can take anywhere from minutes to hours to activate
. Due to the nature of Goose’s bio defences he is not supposed to have stimulants such as caffeine and sugar but sometimes he does push this limit - usually it only lasts 24 hours but in the case of a weekend where he turns into a kid - it tends to last a lot longer. His current record of going without sleep is 5 days.
.Is a complete and utter disaster when it comes to doing normal everyday things - only recently learned how to cook without setting something on fire - it was basically through extreme patience on Ignis’ part that he didn’t burn the community centre down - don’t worry Commander Walsh has learnt his lesson and is not tempting fate a second time.
. That said if Goose is around there is a 95% that something will explode or catch fire and Goose will be the cause of it to add to that he is very impulsive and doesn’t have a lot of patience.
. Josephine ‘Jo’ Jones (onlyajones), 14, Freshman
. From Malory Towers by Enid Blyton, specifically Last Term at Malory Towers
. Is post canon and started at Fandom after she got expelled at the end of the book, has been on a journey of trying to redeem herself for her past mistakes ever since.
. Is from 1950s England, circa 1953 when the new semester stars and is from an extremely wealthy family where she lives with her parents and younger brother in a sprawling estate with dozens of servants. She generally tries to keep this part of her home life secret because part of the reason she was so unpopular at school was that she tended to brag and boast to make herself seem impressive but this just made her reviled and ridiculed.
. Part of this behaviour was encouraged by her father - Charlie Jones - who was from a working class family and behaved badly at school but then went on to make his fortune. As such he strongly encouraged Jo to do the same and be bottom of the form and the only thing that mattered was her having a good time and Jo learnt the hard way that this was not the case
. The final straw came when she stole money in an attempt to get hers back from Matron (she had five pound notes for her birthday and she lost them, Matron ended up picking them up and Jo was afraid of her) - she took more than she intended and was to scared to take it back so she justified it by saying she’d pay it back. She spent the money on a feast she intended to have for her birthday in an attempt to finally make the rest of the form like her but this just caused further trouble because she took a younger girl out shopping with her (her only friend from school, Deidre) and she was too scared to admit this and the whole form got in trouble and punished as a result. Jo was sent to coventry and she finally decided to run away back home and took Deidre with her. They got caught and in this time Miss Grayling learnt that it was Jo who had taken the money, deciding that the only option was to expel her.
. Has short brown hair, brown eyes, is on the short side and is still rather overweight but she did lose a lot of weight before she came to Fandom so she’s not as heavy as she used to be. She tends to still be a bit self conscious about her appearance because she did get bullied about it at school and even though she tried to act self confident and that nothing bothered her - this did have an impact on how she viewed herself, especially after she got expelled
. Dresses quite conservatively, will always be wearing either a long dress or a long skirt or blouse and usually these will be the kind of clothes that you expect to wear for a Sunday Church service. Typically does not show much skin, she’s going to be mortified when she finds out that she’s been signed up for a PE class run by two male teachers this semester. So apologies in advance for how awkward Jo is going to be (there will also probably be tears at some point as well :))
. Cannot swim, at all. Is especially afraid of cold deep water due to an incident at her former school where she got pushed into the deep end and had to be rescued.
. Generally does not talk about much about her former school, Jon (intheyeofthebeholding) knows the truth that she got expelled for bad behaviour but she won’t go into much specifics about her school other than she used to go to an all girls school that only had one male teacher
. Jon is also subsequently her favourite teacher, who recently gave her her very first good report from school sent home with her
. She also works at the library - she works Fridays
. Has taken quite a liking to hot cocoa and will typically be at the Perk, generally on Wednesdays - will probably be keeping this tradition even though her class schedule is different this semester.
. Alara Kitan (canlendanear), 15, Sophomore
. From Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville, a science fiction TV Show that is heavily inspired by Star Trek and follows the crew of the Orville. Alara was Chief of Security for the first season and a few episodes into the second season. Season 3 is finally airing in March the hiatus is nearly over!
. Is from the planet Xelaya in the 25th Century, it will be 2412 for her back home
. She’s humanoid in appearance with ridges on her forehead and she has large pointy ears with ridges on them as well.
. Has a fear of fire and being trapped that was a result of being trapped in a burning room when she was a baby but she doesn’t know about this fear yet - she only gets inklings of it at this point
. Due to the extremely high gravity on Xelaya, Alara is naturally very strong in Earth like gravity and as a result tends to forget how strong she actually is and tends to break things by accident
. Works out in the dorm gym every morning and has gone through quite a few punching bags since
. Broke into a couple of offices last semester as part of the heist and felt rather bad about it - is also trying to improve on her sneaking abilities
. Recently told her parents that she plans to join the military after graduation - they did not take it well and are currently not talking to her. Her sister Solana is acting as the go between.
. Has a lot of jealousy and insecurity regarding her sister - who she feels is better than her at everything.
. This is especially true regarding academics and her sister’s studying for her PHD, Alara is a lot slower in regards to other Xelayans and she does feel self conscious about this - she does struggle a bit with her work and her reading and writing are both pretty basic but she does try her best.

. I also work as a barista for a 24 hour fast food company so my availability is generally all over the place but I usually work my mornings which is late afternoon/evenings EST and I try to ping before I go to work and on my break but SP is always awesome! :)

. I sometimes get anxiety about posting into threads and sending people emails - I’m getting better about that and trying not to freak out so much about that now :)

Alara was Chief of Security for the first season and a few episodes into the second season. Season 3 is finally airing in March the hiatus is nearly over!
. Is from the planet Xelaya in the 25th Century, it will be 2412 for her back home
. She’s humanoid in appearance with ridges on her forehead and she has large pointy ears with ridges on them as well.
. Has a fear of fire and being trapped that was a result of being trapped in a burning room when she was a baby but she doesn’t know about this fear yet - she only gets inklings of it at this point
. Due to the extremely high gravity on Xelaya, Alara is naturally very strong in Earth like gravity and as a result tends to forget how strong she actually is and tends to break things by accident
. Works out in the dorm gym every morning and has gone through quite a few punching bags since
. Broke into a couple of offices last semester as part of the heist and felt rather bad about it - is also trying to improve on her sneaking abilities
. Recently told her parents that she plans to join the military after graduation - they did not take it well and are currently not talking to her. Her sister Solana is acting as the go between.
. Has a lot of jealousy and insecurity regarding her sister - who she feels is better than her at everything.
. This is especially true regarding academics and her sister’s studying for her PHD, Alara is a lot slower in regards to other Xelayans and she does feel self conscious about this - she does struggle a bit with her work and her reading and writing are both pretty basic but she does try her best.

. I also work as a barista for a 24 hour fast food company so my availability is generally all over the place but I usually work my mornings which is late afternoon/evenings EST and I try to ping before I go to work and on my break but SP is always awesome! :)

. I sometimes get anxiety about posting into threads and sending people emails - I’m getting better about that and trying not to freak out so much about that now :)
