Room 229 - Saturday Afternoon

Guillermo had made plans to spend the afternoon playing the meta for Crash Bandicoot games with Graham and so he had spent the morning making sure everything was set up, that there was heaps of freshly baked empanadas for them and that he had the various different games on display so that they could pick which ones they wanted to play.

Once everything was setup, now all that was left to do was wait for Graham to stop by and was pacing his room both nervously and excitedly about getting to spend more time with Graham.

[expecting a visitor but the room can be open before hand!]

After taking some time for a hood warm-up, exercising his thumbs and fingers with little curls and stretches because warm ups were important, Graham shook his hands shook his head, and then bolstered himself, ready for those video games! Cap securely in place and cloak swishing behind him, he then took the very long and arduous journey down the hall to go knocking on Guillermo's door.

Guillermo had been pacing pacing by the door waiting nervously for Graham so when the knock came, he eagerly went to the door and opened and smiled brightly when he saw Graham there, “Graham hi,” he said as he stepped back to let Graham though, “come in, thank you for coming, I’m really looking forward to our video game session,” he said shyly.

"Me, too!" Graham grinned back as he came into the room, already reaching into one of his pockets to pull out a large bag. "And I brought jelly beans! I know you probably made a ton of snacks, but you can't go wrong with more. Or with jelly beans!"

“Oh jelly beans are always good, you can never have too many jelly beans” Guillermo beamed, “and I did spend the morning baking a lot of empanadas for us as well, there will be plenty for us to get through,” he added.

"Now if only we could figure out a way to eat without having to let go of the video game controllers," Graham mused with a chuckle, "then we'd really have it made!"

Ooh, maybe he could talk to Amaya about inventing one. A hands-free empanada holder! Or some kind of jelly bean chute.....

“Oh that would definitely be useful,” Guillermo said with a grin as he tilted his head, “just think of all the food you could eat if you didn’t have to put down video game controllers, I would definitely love to have something like that, I think we could have some pretty epic gaming sessions if we didn’t need to stop to eat,”

"Our poor hands, though!" Graham laughed. "We'd have to at least take breaks to make sure they don't cramp up. But I think mine are going to be pretty good for now, I warmed up before coming over her and everything!"

“Oh that’s true,” Guillermo agreed with a laugh as well and then paused, “a warm up was a great idea, I wish I’d done that this morning…even though…” he hesitated, “do you think my baking session would count as a warm up?” he wondered.

"I was just about to say!" Graham had to laugh again, with a pleased grin for how they seemed to be right on the same page. "You did all that baking! That's definitely a warm-up! Especially if there was a good amount of chopping," he chopped the blade of one hand into the palm of the other, "involved!

"But," he then proposed, tilting an intriguing eyebrow at Guillermo, "we could always test it! See how you hold up in thumb war!"

His hand now thrust forward tantalisingly between them, his other brow joining the the other in a waggle. "Eh? Eh? What'dya say?"

Guillermo went bright red at that but held out his hand to take Graham,’s, “i ….I think we can definitely do a thumb war,” he managed to stammer shyly, “I’m …Im not very good though “ he said a bit apologetically.

"That's okay!" Graham assured him. "We're not in it to win it! We're just testing your video game readiness and the limber nimbleness of your digits!"

With that, Graham clamped his hand tight around Guillermo's, thumb poised and ready to brawl.

"Ready?" he asked.

Guillermo was still bright red but did manage to relax somewhat as Graham clasped his hand around his, he got his thumb in an outstretched position so that it was ready for the thumb war.

“Ready,” he nodded with a warm smile.

"Okay," Graham grinned back, before pulling a very serious face, nodding to Guillermo before drawing in a bolstering breath, wiggled his thumb a little in preparation, and then breathed out.

He didn't know if Thumb Wars were started the same way here as they were back home, but he was going for it, movind his thumb down and to the side and then over to the other as he counted out, "One, two, three, four! I declare a thumb war!"

And, ready or not, his thumb was now coming for yours, Guillermo! No mercy!!

Guillermo grinned as he tried to keep his thumb out of Graham’s reach, while trying to get Graham’s own thumb.

It had been a long time since he had done this and he definitely wasn’t as quick as he would like but he was having fun all the same and it was also nice being this close to Graham as well.

Eyes narrowed, with a bit of his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth in concentration, Graham's thumb weaved and ducked from side to side in an effort to avoid Guillemro's, until he could finally, hopefully, pull off a successful feint. Leaving his thumb still and prone for a second to entice Guillermo's to make an attack, only to swing it out of the way and try to capture his instead, feeling like all of his knight training was finally starting to really pay off!

And that training really did pay off since Guillermo thought he really could get Graham’s thumb for a second when he left it and then he realised his mistake immediately, “oh,” he said but he was still smiling, “that was a good move,” he nodded his defeat as his thumb had well and truly been caught.

Graham's thumb remained clamped down on Guillermo's for a good few seconds, beaming with a broad grin from ear to ear as he secured his ultimate victory. "One day," he declared, "I'll have the fastest thumbs in all of Daventry! So people better watch out! But that was a good battle! I think the baking definitely helped warm you up pretty good for the video games, although, really, you probably don't need too much of one, anyway, with how good and experienced you already are with them!"

Guillermo smiled, feeling himself to start to go red at that, “you’re thumbs are pretty amazing,” he said and then went even redder, “I mean, um … I did very much enjoy that, um ... playing thumb wars I mean,” he finally managed to stammer, “I … I think that was a a good warm up for our … um gaming session,” he said shyly.

"Think we should go again?" Graham wondered. "Best two out of three? Or you think that was a good enough of a warm up and it's time to get to those video games?"

“I mean we could have another go and see how it goes?” Guillermo considered, “it wouldn’t hurt to make sure we’re well and truly warmed up for our gaming sessions right?”

"On the other...hand," said Graham, with a bit of a faint smirk because, no, it wasn't exactly his most hilarious wordplay, but it was appropriate enough, all the same, "we wouldn't want to wear our poor thumbs out with so many battles, either! I like to think we can handle it, though. That might just be the warrior spirit in me talking, though! My thumb had tasted victory and now craves more!"

His thumb, in fact, made a few playful lunges toward Guillero's as it to prove it, too.

Guillermo still laughed at the pun, "Oh that was a good one," he grinned but then was distracted and was not prepared at all for Graham lunging for his thumb again and so was very, very quickly caught out and started laughing as he realised that he had lost another game, “oh no you’ve got me again,” he laughed, flushing bright red as he smiled at Graham, “surely we can have another go? I’ll make this one more of a challenge?”

Probably not but it sounded fun to say.
